ABOUT
Ashley is a Tennessee and Alabama attorney whose practice focuses on agriculture, environmental law, administrative law, land use, and property rights.
Raised with a profound respect for the land and those who care for it, Ashley offers a perspective that reaches far beyond the courtroom. Alongside her legal career, she has dedicated years to hands-on management of livestock operations, including registered seedstock cattle, equine programs, and sheep production.
Most ag lawyers have never pulled a calf, lambed ewes, dealt with a horse colicking at 2 a.m., or experienced firsthand the pressures that development, regulation, market forces, and changing land use place on rural operations. Ashley is one of the relatively few lawyers who can (and has) walked from the courtroom straight into a cattle auction and understands both environments. This direct experience gives her a deep understanding of the challenges and realities faced by farmers, ranchers, landowners, and rural communities.
Ashley has represented clients in matters involving environmental compliance, constitutional challenges to government action, land use and zoning disputes, development conflicts, agricultural operations, contract and business disputes, public records and open meetings laws, and government ethics. Her experience spans matters involving the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Endangered Species Act, Farm Credit Act, anti-competitive conduct, municipal decision-making, and administrative advocacy before state and local agencies
Before entering private practice, Ashley worked in environmental mass tort litigation, including matters arising from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. She is licensed in Tennessee and Alabama and practices in both state and federal courts.
Through The Ferm, Ashley seeks to help clients navigate the intersection of land, law, and stewardship—protecting the farms, businesses, natural resources, and property rights that shape the future of Tennessee and the Southeast.
